About David Cid
Until his retirement in June of 2001, David Cid spent 21 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. During the last 10 years of his career he worked on the anti-terrorism task force, gathering intelligence and conducting investigations into terrorist activities, and locating terrorist cells, both here in the U.S. and abroad. During that time he was assigned to the Oklahoma City Field Office. Upon retirement he joined Salus International, an Oklahoma-City-based consulting firm that consults with numerous federal agencies as well as private industry. Cid is very well-informed on issues relating to [suspected] terrorist cell locations worldwide, as well as America's War on Terrorism. He is also knowledgeable on issues relating to Saddam Hussein's plight to support terrorism and his development of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
From
1987 to 1990, he served in the Intelligence Division of FBI headquarters, Washington, DC,
where he advised the CIA on security matters, having oversight for Espionage
Investigations nationwide. He was a member of the FBI International Crisis Response Team
and is an expert on the integration of Crisis and Consequence management. While assigned
to the New York field office, Mr. Cid was a member of the FBI Special Weapons and Tactics
team.
Mr. Cid has acted as on scene commander in a wide variety of scenarios, to include extortion's, kidnappings, and acts of terrorism. He has designed response plans for special events, to include the World Series, the Special Olympics and the US Open.
In 1996, he supervised the first successful investigation and prosecution under the Biological Weapons Antiterrorism Act, interdicting a plot to assassinate federal and local officials.
Mr. Cid has been a guest lecturer in academic, business and government arenas, and has served as faculty of the International Law Enforcement Academy, Budapest, as a Counter-terrorism expert. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma, where he supports research on Terrorism and its effects.
In October, 1999 Governor Frank Keating appointed Mr. Cid to the Board of Directors of the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism at Oklahoma City.
Mr. Cid has written extensively on security matters and has contributed to Congressional testimony on terrorism and homeland defense. He is a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals and the American Society of Industrial Security. A native of New York, Mr. Cid joined the FBI in 1981, retiring as an Inspector and Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office.
Prior to his FBI service, he was a Human Resources specialist for AT&T. He is a veteran of the Vietnam Nam war, honorably discharged in 1971 and an honors graduate of Thomas Edison College in Trenton, New Jersey. He is married with two children.
