Dangers in the Houston Ship Channel

"I worked at Exxon Oil in Baytown, Texas for 10 years, at the worlds largest petrochemical facility. There is one pipeline there that runs for several miles that is 24 inches in diameter. One foot long volume length of this line called an acid gas line. When ruptured or released it would kill 25,000 people.

In Deer Park, Shell and others also store chlorine gas, which is not known by the public. Not even considering many other toxic or explosive materials stored or transferred by pipeline, a chlorine gas leak would kill 100,000 residents in Deer Park, Pasadena, South Loop Houston. Their death would be horrible, as chlorine mixes with water vapor in the lungs making hydrochloric acid. It would be an agonizing death for thousands of people.

A container ship with a suitcase size nuclear device, detonated in the ship channel, is all it would take, and only 5% of containers are currently inspected.
