Granville Knight, Jr., a native
Houstonian, holds a BA degree in business administration from the University
of Houston. Upon graduation in 1959, as one of twenty-four men selected
nationwide, he served as an officer in the Counter Intelligence Corps. Two
years later, he returned to Houston and began a successful insurance career
which spanned forty years.
In 2005, he was presented the Benjamin N. Woody Woodson Award which is given in recognition of meritorious service to the insurance industry and the community. Granville has served on the boards of numerous civic organizations, as an advisory director for two major Houston banks, and has been a guest lecturer for the University of Houston's School of Business. As well, for five years he served as chairman of the River Oaks Country Club International Tennis Tournament. Several years ago, he began an in-depth study of problems men face in adjusting to changes in their lives. The Mountains of Our Lives is based not only on his own personal experiences, but includes information he gathered from interviews and conversations with men who have faced the challenges of stress, confusion, self-doubt, and depression. Now retired from corporate life, Granville's time is spent as a motivational speaker and Sunday School teacher. His distinct southern drawl and memorable witticisms have made him a popular radio talk show guest. Granville and his wife Elaine have been married for forty-three years and they have three children and three grandchildren. They enjoy playing golf and entertaining friends on their South Texas ranch. |
