Discussion Points for Dave Rosenak
High Fuel Prices
- In the 35 years
since OPEC whacked us with an oil problem, we have done nothing about it.
- We have reached
the tipping point where the world capacity to produce oil just equals the
rate at which we are burning it up, and prices are soaring.
- High priced oil
is not the PROBLEM; High priced oil is the SOLUTION!
- High priced oil
is what will make us buy the fuel efficient car, car pool, take public
transportation, change the oil burning furnace.
- High priced oil
is what will make the auto makers stop making and promoting the biggest SUV
and compete on who can make the most fuel efficient vehicles.
- High priced oil
is what will make companies get serious about R&D for the next generation of
fuels, and will make those fuels economically attractive.
- We have let
high priced oil happen to us, and the money goes to evil tyrants making them
extraordinarily rich and powerful - if we want to know who it is that is
financing terrorism it is us.
- We could have
made high priced oil happen through adding substantial taxes to oil, and the
extra money would be coming back to us, not the evil tyrants. We still can.
Population
-
Human population doubled during our
Grandfather’s generation, doubled again during our own lifetime, and will
continue to double and redouble until some generation has the gumption to do
something about it.
-
There are food riots around the world,
civil wars fought over scarce fresh water, we are burning up the world
supply of oil, we are chopping down the forests, driving other species to
extinction, polluting the air we breath, and causing climate changes that
will have disastrous consequences.
-
The United States as the most influential
country in the World must adopt a policy to be the proponent for maintaining
U.S. and World populations at their current levels.
-
Domestic policy:
a.
Education to teach responsible
parenting, and methods of contraception.
b.
Welfare policies to not make it an
attractive lifestyle choice for a young girl to drop out of school. Have babies,
and be supported at public expense.
c.
Immigration policies to limit the
number of authorized immigrants and eliminate the unauthorized immigrants, that
the U.S. will not enable other countries to continue unrestrained propagation
and send their surplus populations here.
Foreign policy:
a.
Aid to third world nations will be
tied to their implementing policies to maintain their populations at current
levels.
b.
Aid to health clinics in third world
nations that reverse the current “Mexico City” policy that prohibits them to
discuss population control, and instead require them to promote family planning
and discuss and provide contraceptive medications and devices.
- Attempt to
enlist the support of religious leaders. Why would people who are dedicated
to serving the Creator want to overpopulate and destroy his Planet?
Crime &
Punishment
-
We have 1 of every 100 adult Americans
currently in prison. A vastly higher proportion than any other developed
nation. We are still the most violent society of any developed nation.
-
The plea bargain system leads to short
periods of incarceration for violent criminals, who are released to commit
further violent crimes and become leaders of the gang corrupting
impressionable young people.
-
We should scrap the plea bargain system
and streamline the trial procedure so that violent criminals will be tried,
and if convicted, permanently removed from society.
-
One of the ways to streamline trial
procedures is to replace the current system of selecting a jury from the
general public, and create juries of professional jurors.
-
Our 40 year “War on Drugs” has been a
major source of imprisoning hundreds of thousands of people whose only crime
is their addiction. And has been an overwhelming source of crime and
violence. It has in no way eliminated the problems of drug addiction.
-
We should reverse course, and create
licensed legal production of narcotic drugs, and government run distribution
centers.
-
The easy availability of guns in our
society has made guns the weapon used in 20,000 murders a year, and hundreds
of thousands of people who are robbed, wounded, or otherwise attacked or
terrorized by people with guns.
-
The guns and ammunition generally used
for sport are different from the guns and ammunition generally used for
crime and violence. We can protect the rights of sportsmen to enjoy their
gun and make society safer by enacting a ban on the specific types of guns
generally used by people to attack their fellow man.
